The aim of the Department of Translation and Interpreting is to train translators who have professional skills in written and oral fields, who can meet the increasing need for communication on the international platform.Within the framework of undergraduate programmes, courses aimed at improving foreign language skills aim to increase students' command of a foreign language. In addition, courses in the mother tongue, which are recognised in the modern academic world, are also offered in order to use Turkish more effectively, thus enabling future translators to learn both languages in all aspects. In order to respond to the needs of the developing society, the Translation and Interpreting undergraduate programme also provides education on current issues and culture.Courses are offered in different fields of translation (medicine, law, economics, literature, science, social sciences, social science disciplines and the press), providing translators with the ability to translate in a variety of subjects. It is aimed to train translators who have the opportunity to learn a second foreign language through elective foreign language courses in a well-equipped manner by providing both translation and interpreting training. Thanks to internship opportunities, translators have the opportunity to see the real working environment within the scope of their education. Graduates of the programme work as academicians in various governmental institutions, European Union organisations, translation agencies, private enterprises or universities, or actively participate in the translation sector by establishing their own translation agencies.
